Reflection

I love this time of year! Thanksgiving opens the door to a sacred, light filled part of the year for me. Even though we are entering the 'darkest' part of the year in relation to the amount of daylight we enjoy, this is a time of celebrating the Light. Many faiths are celebrating Light during the month of December. Look for my December blog posts on Light and it’s spiritual meaning.

This past week I had the joy of spending time with friends and family. It was incredible being able to spend time with my nieces and nephew, brother, and sister in law. I also experienced the awe of gratitude during our Gratitude Service on Thanksgiving Eve at church. To be able to hear what everyone was grateful for was a true blessing and a reminder of what this season is all about. This quote by William Arthur Ward spoke to my heart this year: “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” Having an attitude of gratitude opens my heart and mind to experience so much more. It seems as if opportunities for growth, adventure, and relationships multiply when my focus is on who and what I am grateful for.

When you have a moment I encourage you to take a few moments and reflect on what you are grateful for as we enter into our holiday season 2018.
