I love this time of year! Thanksgiving opens the door to a sacred, light filled part of the year for me. Even though we are entering the 'darkest' part of the year in relation to the amount of daylight we enjoy, this is a time of celebrating the Light. Many faiths are celebrating Light during the month of December. Look for my December blog posts on Light and it’s spiritual meaning. This past week I had the joy of spending time with friends and family. It was incredible being able to spend time with my nieces and nephew, brother, and sister in law. I also experienced the awe of gratitude during our Gratitude Service on Thanksgiving Eve at church. To be able to hear what everyone was gr

Brokenness or Wholeness – which do you choose?

“Before I can tell my life what I want to do with it, I must listen to my life telling me who I am.” -Parker J. Palmer We live our life based on choices. Are we making these life choices from our brokenness or our wholeness? The Light within us wants to be shared with the world. Underneath whatever challenges, struggles, or misconceptions of who we believe we are, is a greater, a deeper T

Practicing Gratitude

“I don't have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness - it's right in front of me if I'm paying attention and practicing gratitude.” -Brene Brown How many of us think about gratitude during this time of year? I know that I am! I try to keep a strong spiritual practice of gratitude all year long and yet I know I make a stronger effort during the month of November. What happens when we forget to be grateful? Do you think that we begin to see more of the things that we don’t like? The things that discourage us? The moments that disappoint us? What if we made a conscious effort to become more aware of something good that is happening in the world? What if we were able to muster
