Practicing Gratitude
“I don't have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness - it's right in front of me if I'm paying attention and practicing gratitude.” -Brene Brown
How many of us think about gratitude during this time of year? I know that I am! I try to keep a strong spiritual practice of gratitude all year long and yet I know I make a stronger effort during the month of November.
What happens when we forget to be grateful? Do you think that we begin to see more of the things that we don’t like? The things that discourage us? The moments that disappoint us? What if we made a conscious effort to become more aware of something good that is happening in the world? What if we were able to muster up the courage to find one thing to be grateful? Do you think that your world might start to shift? Perceptions are important. What we perceive to be true is usually what comes to fruition. Maybe the thing that is being called to change is something within me. As we transform our thoughts our outside world shifts to mirror that which is within.
I invite you to share something that you are grateful for. Write an anonymous letter or note to someone thanking them for whatever it is that you are grateful for, journal on it, find a way that speaks to your soul…
I will start...I am grateful for my life. I am grateful for the present moment, this moment because it allows me the opportunity to make choices and live authentically.
