What's Stopping You?

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.” -Martin Luther King Jr

Have you ever set an intention only to find yourself in a place or fear or uncertainty? I believe that many of us want to create something in our lives, discover a vision that we want to dive into and create in our lives, only to then find ourselves temporarily frozen. Sometimes it is for a split second, sometimes for a longer period of time, and sometimes we never find the courage to take the first step.

I was talking with someone this week and the topic of intentions, fears, and how we respond to them came up in the conversation. We talked about faltering, even for a second, and how that can affect us. I believe that each of us has a gift to share with the world, that each of us can set intentions for what we want to do, experience, or achieve in our lifetime. More importantly, I believe we can set an intention for how we show up in the world, how we choose our actions based on our beliefs, motivations, and beliefs about ourselves. How we view ourselves is the key. Do we believe we are important, not from an egotistical space, rather from a spiritual space? Do we believe that the world needs us? I was talking with someone just last week about this very topic. She had made a comment that the world needed me and my response was “Does it?” Interesting that I went there…I questioned this comment. In fact I questioned it from my core. Yes, the world needs all of us. We are all here by Divine Appointment. Each of us has a gift to share with the world. Are you listening to that which calls you?

The definition for intention is “plan” and a synonym for intention is “goal”. I believe that once we set the intention we must fully buy into it, it must become so important that it becomes a part of us, we integrate it into our daily life, our schedule, and our mindset. When we step into this intention, create a plan to move forward, and then implement the plan our intention becomes reality. Daily affirmations, daily meditation, daily visualize that which you wish to create. Feel it in your body…how does it feel to be…live…your intention? Where can you feel it?

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” -Tony Robbins

What’s stopping you from taking the first step? Is it fear? Is it judgment…yours or someone else’s? Once we can identify that which is stopping us I believe that we have the opportunity to heal it and take that step. We may find ourselves taking one step forward, one step back, 2 steps forward, 5 steps back, 10 steps forward, etc…AND what is important is that we take the first step. As we set appropriate goals we see results. I believe those results will continue to encourage us to keep going when the going gets tough. With faith and belief in ourselves we co-create the life that we wish to live. We have the opportunity to BE the person that we are called to become. Healing unfolds and is revealed. Wholeness was always there…we just couldn’t see it in that moment. As we heal any sense of separation I believe what is stopping us dissolves back into nothingness. We begin to embody that which we are, and it shows up in our life as manifestations, as the staircase that Martin Luther King Jr spoke about in the quote above.

Just like an iceberg, what is below the water line is usually bigger than the tip above water, the part that we can see. I believe that what is underneath is quite powerful. Is what we can’t see filled with fears, hesitations, doubts, insecurities, or is it filled with anticipation, awe, trust, a belief in ourselves and others that support and encourage us, a positive mindset, faith? When we heal that which is not the Truth of our being we are destined to do great things, to become more of our True Self, the Self that wants to express Itself as you, as me.
